Machars Vet Services strives to support the Galloway farming community with a range of comprehensive services for farmers and smallholders across the region. We work with dairy and beef cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, and other small farm animal species. We’re here to help you improve the health and welfare of your animals while also understanding your productivity and business requirements. In doing so, we prioritise disease prevention and control alongside dedicated individual animal medicine. Our services include:

Small animals
At Machars Vet Services, we understand that your pets are your family and we pledge to give them the best care, and you the best advice, that we can. Our expert vet team will make you and your pet – from the smallest rodent to the largest dog – as comfortable as possible. We do this by offering full nose-to-tail checks-ups, general animal health and preventative treatments, and emergency support, all in a calm and understanding environment. We offer:

- Consultations daily including late night opening

Equine
Machars Vet Services aims to provide the highest standard of veterinary care to you and your horse and we’re here to offer support to horse owners about the long-term care of equine stock. This means we offer an ambulatory visiting service for routine procedures and general health checks, as well as medical, surgical and reproductive procedures and advice about common horse-health conditions. Our services include:
- All routine and emergency work undertaken
- Fertility packages available including AI and pregnancy diagnosis
- In-house blood analysis
- Castrations
- 2 and 5 stage Pre-Purchase Examinations
- Vet available 24hr per day, 365 days per year.
